Kronborg Chamber Music Festival

The Kronborg Chamber Music Festival is a newly established music event which takes place 20-23/8 2009 for the first time.

Soloists of the highest calibre will play chamber music together in the beautiful surroundings of the church at the world famous Kronborg Castle north of Copenhagen.

This is a unique possibility to hear world class performers like Leif Ove Andsnes (piano), Isabelle van Keulen (violin), Radovan Vlatkovic (French horn), Sharon Kam (clarinet) with the Kuss Quartett from Berlin and the piano trio Trio Con Brio from Denmark enjoying making music together like friends instead of just running into each other briefly at airports all over the world.

Thursday 20/8 21:00 Brahms in Danish Surroundings I (Brahms: String Quartet no. 3, Nørgård: String Quartet no. 1 and Spell (played by the composer), Brahms: Horn trio)

Friday 21/8 18:00 Big and small (Schumann: Adagio and Allegro, Mozart: Duo for bassoon and cello, Schubert: String Quintet, C Major)

Friday 21/8 21:00 A Dark Century (Alban Berg: 4 Pieces for Clarinet and Piano, R. Strauss: Metamorfosen for Strings, Messiaen: Quartet for the end of Time)

Saturday 22/8 18:00 Of Heavenly Length (Nielsen: Canto serioso, Vivaldi: Bassoon Concerto, Schubert: Piano Trio E Flat Major)

Saturday 22/8 21:00 On the Wings of Inspiration (An informal concert prepared by all musicians during their week of rehearsals and concerts)

Sunday 23/8 18:00 Brahms in Danish Surrroundings II (Nielsen: Violin Sonata No. 2, Nørgård: Spell, Brahms: Clarinet Trio)

Sunday 23/8 21:00 Closing Concert (Schubert: Marche militaire, Smetana: String Quartet ("From my life"), Schubert: Octet)

Tickets are available through the Danish ticket agency Billetnet. Their website, www.billetnet.dk, has a section in English. In that section you should be looking first for Music, then for Classical, and, once you are that far, browse trhough that section until you get to our concerts. You may buy tickets for a single concert, for both concerts on the same night (called Dagsbillet) or eventually for all our concerts (Partoutkort). All tickets except the Partoutkort can be had with a meal at the Kronborg Café included.
